The Eze Foundation and Burberry

The Eze Foundation and Burberry Collaborate to Offer 25 Students from John Roan Sixth Form a day of Work Experience and Learning.

May 15th, 2024, London

The Eze Foundation, founded by Crystal Palace and England Midfielder Eberechi Eze, collaborated with Burberry to provide a unique opportunity for workplace experience to students from John Roan School, where Ebere attended secondary school.

With a shared mission of empowering young people to develop their skills and broaden their career horizons, Burberry welcomed 25 bright young individuals from John Roan in April for an ‘Inspiration Day’ filled with valuable work experience and insightful lessons. The collaboration builds on Burberry’s global youth programme, Burberry Inspire, and is aimed to expose these students to various facets of the fashion industry, equipping them with practical knowledge that could inspire their future choices and provide first-hand experience to business and employment.

Throughout the day, the students had the chance to shadow professionals at Burberry, gaining invaluable insight into areas such as design, marketing, merchandising, and more. They participated in interactive workshops, received mentorship from industry experts, and had the opportunity to ask questions and learn from real-world practitioners.

“We are so proud to have partnered with Burberry to offer this opportunity to the students of my secondary school," said Ebere Eze. “A day of work experience like this, at such a globally renowned brand is something we could only have dreamed of growing up. I know the students had an incredible day and learned so much. I can’t thank the staff and team at Burberry enough for providing this opportunity to the students. It was amazing to see their creativity, skills and passion up close. We hope to provide many more opportunities like this in the future for years to come.”

“Burberry Inspire is underpinned by giving young people safe spaces within which to explore their creativity, develop new skills and build aspiration for future career pathways. With Ebere, and the shared mission of the Eze Foundation, we were delighted to bring the principles of our global Burberry Inspire programme to life in a unique Inspiration Day for the Joan Roan School, and to make the industry experience and mentorship of our incredible colleagues available for such a fantastic cause. We look forward to this event being the first of many to come” said Responsibility Programme Director, Nicole Lovett.

The day culminated in a Q&A session where the students had the opportunity to interact with Ebere and Burberry employees, ask questions, and receive feedback on their interests and career aspirations. The Burberry Inspiration day follows a series of initiatives from The Eze Foundation in its first year, such as Christmas raffles at local schools, a students trip to visit Crystal Palace FC training ground, the annual Eze Invitational, a free-for-all entrants grassroots football tournament for children in South East London, with the second installment coming this May at the Crystal Palace academy, and a school visit from a local fire brigade to showcase a fire engine and the career possibilities in the industry.
